In addition to her work as a performer, Lyndsey Cole Hadary is also an experienced teacher of acting, having taught aspiring artists in private one-on-one settings and groups. She specializes in Acting Techniques, Musical Theatre/Song Performance Techniques, Movement/Embodiment Practices, and Audition Techniques.
Her methods of instruction particularly utilize the work of Uta Hagen, Robert Cohen, and Michael Chekov. While these methods offer a great deal, Lyndsey’s work is unique due to her extensive experience and understanding of movement work and psychology/neuroscience research that she uses to supplement those methods. Practices include (but are not limited to): The Feldenkrais Method, Laban Movement Analysis/Bartenieff Fundamentals, Alexander Technique, Lecoq, Linklater, Katy Bowman’s Nutritious Movement, Dr. Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She integrates these passions into her pedagogy, utilizing them in “user-friendly” ways for the developing artist who wishes to arrive at their craft with more joy, freedom and ease.
Since the pandemic, she continued her acting performance training at The University of Georgia as well as furthering her skills as a Theatre/Movement Educator and academic. While studying at UGA, Lyndsey did extensive research and development of a solo show entitled “The Beginning of Things: A Feminist Dreamscape.” Told through modern dance, prose, song, and mask work, this original, scripted dance theatre piece weaves Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s feminist horror novella, The Yellow Wallpaper, with Lyndsey’s own past experiences with medical sexism, as well as incorporating text from known 1st Wave Feminist writers (Kate Chopin, Virginia Woolf, Charlotte Brontë, & Henrik Ibsen). Lyndsey conducted extensive research on 1st Wave Feminism, Medical Sexism, and, most specifically, Dr. Weir Mitchell’s “Rest Cure” treatment for this piece, and was recognized as a runner-up for presenting on her research in UGA’s 2022 4:33 Arts Research Competition.
Most recently, Lyndsey taught “Acting through Song” for The University of Georgia’s Fall 2023 Community Music School and UGA’s 2023 & 2024 Summer Music Institute. She also created and taught “Physicalizing the Musical Theatre Song” at the 2022 Georgia Theatre Conference, and “Introduction to Acting for Non-Majors” to undergraduate students in The University of Georgia.
She also currently has a private virtual acting studio where she offers private lessons/coachings. She can additionally be hired for masterclass instruction.
